Back in 2002 after my degree I lectured on the BTEC Sports Science and Health Science Programmes and during this time I joined Upbeat where many members agreed to help me with my Masters research.
My dissertation was on exercise uptake and adherence. I was passionate to offer adaptive exercise with a view for exercise being for all. I believe in self-select intensity and ensuring exercise flows whilst lifting people’s energy. This means sessions are not only safe and effective but creative and energising for the physical body, mind and soul.
On completion of my Masters in Exercise Medicine I lectured on the Health, Exercise and Science Degree Programme. I have been very fortunate and had my research published in the Journal of Nursing and the years of working in such a specific area means I have an impressive portfolio of working for various organisations on the delivering of specialist exercise in an instructor capacity, training the trainer, quality assurance and on a consultancy basis.
I thrive on balancing my academic role and still being able to deliver sessions to members. Upbeat is so much more than just exercise, the sense of community, family is what makes Upbeat so special.
